Yes, that is possible. DVCAM uses the same compression-technology as 
mini-DV. DVCAM is only recorded differently on tape: with a wider track, 
and the space between the tracks is further apart. This results in DVCAM 
being a bit more robust when you have a bad tape. 
You would indeed need borrow/rent a camcorder or deck which can record 
DVCAM.
