I can't answer to your DV500 problems. Mine was very reliable and worked
in several computers that the card was installed in. Mind you, I did not
have the card with the "daughter" card attached. I did many many videos
with it and loved the ease of use. So, I continued the upgrade path to
Liquid Edition.

I thought that the Pro One crowd were left out. I was going to "upgrade"
to the Pro One, but held off. Glad I did. That product had a short
lifespan as opposed to DV500. And, with the DV500, there many updates
from the first version all the way up to v4.5a. And, they were free.

Your product is not outdated. It still works, right? The update to v7 is
not a "must have" for some people. It is a major upgrade, not just an
update. You get Commotion compositing built in. SmartSound now
integrated and a host of other features including your choice of what
interface you want to work in. If you've followed the forums, you would
see that Smartsound was one of the highest requested "updates". Finally,
it's arrived. I will be upgrading (again, this isn't just an update/fix).

Agreed. In the forums, there were gripes about various problems along
with "why don't we have this feature". For the most part, Pinnacle/Avid
have listened. There are still a few things that people still want and
list, but for me, the product is great.
