If you can afford it a hand held camera gives a lot of scope. Used from the
wings or backstage or even off to one side of the audience.
also if you can secure the area in front of the stage you can have one of
your camera on a fixed track so it can slide from side to side. If it's a
good track you may geta way with moving whilst on shot but even a cheap
track will allow the operator to shuffle around a bit.
The whole track plus enough operating space needs to be isolated from the
crowd and you may need some bodies in there to ensure nobody jumps in.
