Sony's own "Parts Plus" site isn't very helpful either. They don't have
any part called a headphone jack, just a "JACK, SMALL TYPE(i)." Which
is different than, say, their "JACK, SUPER SMALL TYPE" (jeez...). There
is no exploded diagram on the site related to the small type jack, so I
can't be sure that's the right jack. I count at least 7 total A/V jacks
of one kind or another on the PD170. I've put in an online inquiry to
Sony to see if they'll help me identify the part. Once when I tried to
call them about a part, they wanted to charge me a frickin research
fee!
Here is what I found out about the service manual "Part number is
9-876-286-11 and will be available at a cost of $55.00 on or about
12/08/05. You can order the manual through the parts department at
800-538-7550." I might be able to use the exploded parts diagrams on
the Parts Plus website to help me disect the thing.
www.partstore.com is also great because you can enter in a part number
and see what models it fits. For instance if you have a strange battery
that you can't figure out what it fits...
