Hi Richard,

I appreciate your reply. I see you help a lot of people, and have helped me
in the past.

The Pyro box comes with the adobe premiere lite software, but states it
needs no drivers for it uses the what XP already has. The system recognized
it immediately. Once I did get a "preview" from the VCR through it.

I do NOT think it is the box. I am sure it is in my system somewhere,
Hardware or resources. I have hooked my friends sony DV TRV480 camcorder up
to this computer this morning, and it recognizes it fine as a sony
camcorder. We attempted to import some of his Digital movies from his
Camcorder into my system. But in every single software import attempt the
system freezes. Only when I unplug the camera ( or Pyro box ) will the
system/software release the hourglass and close. For the record, I did turn
off all virus software, firewalls, and all background software. No
difference.

I'm stumped for it imported from my Sony TRV330 on numerous occassions last
year. Same system, motherboard and memory chips. I haven't added anything
other than a new HDD ( slave for storage only).

So, I'm left with a very poor quality USB import, which works fine, but
sucks for retail level work. Back to the VCR's I guess....

thanks for any other insights as to what might cause all Firewire DV imports
to freeze the system.
