Another idea. Have you thought about your local auto-glass service
shop?
They'll have loads of windscreens that they take out of customers
cars. Most shops just toss 'em.
You should be able to get a busted screen from their bin.(or ask them
to pop the next cracked one from the car instead of smashing it out.
If you can actually get one to match the model of the auto you're
using in your film perfect.
If it's just cracked you can actually customize the smash for the best
camera shot etc..(even embellish it with a few streaks of blood for
dramatic effect.)
Then just mount it on the inside of the car using heavy duty double
sided tape around the edges.(thin strips of tape on the rubber
gasket.)
Be sure the actual good windscreen is clean and spotless so as not to
make a gaff.
