have done this with clear vinyl like tape and a scoring device like an ice
pic or artist cutting tool. the vinyl is reasonably inexpensive at lowe's
and an ice pic is probably less than a buck. double and side double scores
make the crack even have depth. the thickness of the vinyl helps. now if
you have to focus heavily on the crack itself rather than look through it,
then you have but one option, break the glass and put in a new windshield.
better yet, find someone who has a bad glass, needs it replaced, and shoot
the scene through that glass before they replace the screen :o)
