How to connect what is actually a mono input to a socket with five
contacts would be a good start.

The external mic uses a plug with five contacts. Assuming one is ground,
which of the other four is for audio?

Ah yes there is, it has a remote control built into it as well.

SO no one has said, how do you cut the soundtrack out of the streaming
DV when capturing live from the firewire port?
