Oops - I think I am confused about Ulead product names. I thought you
were talking about the premium product in your comments, but apparently
VS9 is the amateur product which sells for $79, and Media Studio Pro is
the higher end product. I would not use the amateur version of any of
these. So have you used Media Studio Pro? Same speed advantage? Has
Ulead figured out how to handle HDV better than everyone else?
I used to use the Ulead product when I started out in NLE, but my
computer couldn't keep up with video rates for teh output, so I bought a
turnkey system that used Adobe Premiere 6.5. Learning curve was minimal.
I really liked the Ulead (I think it was the Media Studio), hence the
interest in going back to them for a software-only solution to HDV.
In other words, if it can handle SD as well as my Matrox/Premiere
system, and is also the best at doing HDV, then what am I waiting for.
Not jumping into the HD fray just this moment, but when I get that HD
projector, who knows...
