Hey there... you didn't say specifically what type of audio you are going
for, but let us assume it is dialog.

Why don't you try using a minidisc recorder and a lapel mic.

Get your buddy to fix you a little box to make one channel record about
10db down from the other to guarantee good level in the line of fire.

Use a clapboard to establish your sync, then just lay the audio in on your
editor.

Works like gangbusters. I've done this many times with up to TEN recorders
at the same time.
