Video is very demanding, I have an Athlon 3.3 with 1Gb RAM & acres of space
on 2 external HDs, still takes HOURS to encode video.

My current PC came with Firewire built in but cards can be bought online
from around 7 here in the UK.

Software like the above is sometimes bundled with hardware.
It's also worth taking a look at less consumer-oriented stuff like TMPGEnc &
TDA

Again, never fast enough.They may claim to be 16x but when it comes to
burning video it always takes a long time. Data DVDs can be burnt in 5 mins,
God knows why.
