James C. Allison:
Hey Richard, how are you doing? I know that I'm having to make do with
antique stuff, but it's what I have, and the chances of getting new stuff is
pretty slim.
RC:

it?)

JCA
SP2.

JCA:
Good idea! I'll do that this evening.
RC:
> But that doesn't sound like your problem?
JCA:
It was one of the Problems/Solutions listed in the RT2500 User's Guide.
RC:
> OK. You are lucky you didn't break something.
JCA:
Whew! :) It never occurred to me that this was an "iffy" thing to do!
RC:

JCA:
Alright. You're right about this. But everything else works so well that the
MovieCaptureWindow thing is like a small stone in one's shoe. I mean, I can
get on without it, but it's right there all the time. I guess I'll just have
to get used to it.

JCA:
I've heard some of the horror stories. BTW, I looked for some RT2500
DiscussionGroups, and I found them, but the problem with them is that all
the posts are a couple of years old, and no one is posting any new stuff.
Geeze, obsolete in four years... Who woulda thunk?

JCA:
Well, I think you have shown remarkable patience with me, and for that I am
deeply appreciative.
You see, I'm doing this computer stuff because I enjoy it, and even though I
have an agenda (recording TheCrystalume) with the video stuff, I still do
all kinds of stuff on OTHER computers that I have. Like I have a complete
GraphicsDesign system with scanner, printer, and graphics programs. And then
I have an Internet system and I'm continually messing with something on it.
RC:

JCA:
The IRQ thing was something that came up in my Premiere VHS Educational
Video. And actually, though I'm surprised to see so many devices on IRQ 9,
everything seems to be working just fine (except for my
MovieCaptureObsession!).
RC:
> I don't see ANY that could be considered "not necessary".
JCA:
Well, so much for another Hardware Profile!
RC:
> Not clear why you seem to have TWO sound cards?
> 9 - Creative SB Audigy
> 9 - M-Audio Delta 1010LT
JCA:
Well, the Creative SB Audigy was the original sound card. So when I got to
making some music with the Acid Music program, I found that I was having
problems with the Audigy NOT being "full duplex" (able to record and
playback at the same time). And so I got to looking around, and found that
in reality Audigy is NOT a music production card. And a friend of mine found
out about this and so for Christmas, she gave me the M-Audio Delta 1010LT
card which I'm using for music production. But for everything else, I'm
using the Audigy.
RC:
> Could that be contributing to your lack of sound on playback?
JCA:
No. I have the sound thing sorted out. I was unrealistically expecting to
hear the sound on the TV, so I wasn't turning on the sound system. Well,
yesterday, I hooked up my PC speakers, and VIOLA' sound on preview, capture,
review of clip, and on timeline. The sound is working famously! :)
Anyway, today I am going to be working on The Crystalume in preparation for
starting to seriously record it.
Richard, I have done some tests and the images are absolutely GORGEOUS.
Color is GREAT, though I see that I am going to have to use a lot less White
for recording than I do when I perform live. And I think that the finished
product will be VERY nice.
I still have a lot of learning to do to turn out a DVD as I have envisioned,
but I have the equipment, and I'm determined to eventually get it done. When
I do, I'll send you a DVD to let you see what kind of thing I'm working on.
In the meantime, I hope this finds YOU doing well, and thanks again for your
input. It IS greatly appreciated.
Regards
Allison
