I have a growing list of clients who want simple shoots and post. I'll learn
on those and continue to grow into the art and craft. I've been doing
non-linear audio since 1990. I have an XL2 with a good tripod and having
worked as a location audio guy for some years, I have absorbed a lot about
lighting. So I'm entry level video with advanced audio.
I have also gotten good response from production companies I do sound for.
I'm offering them my sound and the XL2 as part of my package in case they
need an extra locked down shot, or something not too tricky.
BTW, I finally found the right settings in FCP last night. I was told the
footage was originally shot on Super 16 and transferred to miniDV at a 4:3
aspect ratio. In my camera during playback it looks like 16:9 letterbox.
In FCP 4.5, capturing in DV NTSC 48k anamorphic did the trick, but don't
check the 16:9 box. Not using square pixels looked better on the Mac screen;
slightly sharper.
What a royal pain.
