Whatever software you are using, one method I have used successfully
is to take an image of the finished writing and then create the preceeding
frames by sucessively "erasing" bit by bit (from the end).
Then, when you look at them at video speed in forward order, the writing
appears as if from an invisible pen. You may have to experiment to
determine how many frames and how long each appears to get your
timing to come out right.
