If you mean that you want to be able to partially see the video through the
(coloured?) text, yes, it's possible. After you have your text layer on the
timeline, place your cursor in the text box. Now move it up to the top.
You'll see the words "Opacity is 100%" appear. Drag the top bar (opacity)
down as desired.
BTW, you didn't respond the other day. Did you ever get your text problem
figured out?
