I had 8 then went to 9 and now 9Plus. I originally bought Studio 8 for
the MovieBox DV bob for LE. I needed to also have analog i/o. I toyed
with Studio and thought it was pretty good for a quick "down and dirty"
editing. It worked great. So.. the upgrade to 9 was cheap enough, then
then 9plus. It still works fine for me. I stayed away from 10 for the
fact that early reports were not good. On paper, the product was
awesome, but what good is "awesome" if it doesn't work? So, since
Pinnacle was no longer going to support LE and Avid was going to carry
the ball, I upgraded to AL7. I wanted SmartSound (although I have
SonicFire Pro). The Commotion compositing is a bonus. Being able to toss
in just about any format on the timeline is great. And now, with AL7,
you don't have to wait for imported video to have the audio and video
separated.
People have reported problems with SmartSound. It works great for me.

I used to video the "event" stuff, but it got to be too much for me. My
best camera person (my daughter) moved to Florida, and to even thing of
training someone else was out of the question. So now, I basically do
editing from independent videographers. They have seen my work, and
trust me to do the "right thing". No one has complained yet!
