I'm looking for a high quality SDTV LCD monitor. It would be used in an Avid
editing suite where 99.5% of the jobs are still standard definition. We have a
plasma in that room but it does not do a good job of displaying SD. There are
high priced models available through professional outlets but I'm wondering if
any of you have experience with retail SD LCD monitors.
There are plain 4x3 LCD TVs for sale at various retail outlets. They advertise a
640x480 resolution. So even with these there is some scaling. There are so
called professional models with the same native resolution for 3 or more times
the price.
A side question: Would a LCD monitor like I'm talking about do progressive scan
if connected to a component source? Is that a function of the monitor or the
source hardware?
Thanks for any input you can provide.
