Ya know. If you think the 416 (or any shotgun) is the thing to use in close
slappy interiors, go for it. I have Schoeps and Sennheisers. I can hear the
difference. The production company hires me for that.
It's really nice to get calls a few days after the shoot from the producers
saying, "Damn, you were right about that Schoeps. The dialog sounds great."
Try it. You'll see. (or, um, hear.)
Of course if your run&gunning, have a bad boom person or can't get closer
than 18", all bets are off. In those situations everything is compromised.
Don't believe just me. Walk onto any film shoot and see what's on the boom.
