I've been working for the BBC for nearly 40 years now, one way and
another, and for a large part of that time have worked with soundmen
who use 416s indoors and out. I've never had a problem. Back in the
days of variety tv, they used gun mics on the studio booms too. When DV
came along and we had to start doing our own sound, we bought
Sennheiser K6/ME66 gun mics, and used them indoors and out too. No
problems.
