My TRV27 camcorder is less than 3-yr old. I have taped fewer than 10
tapes during its life span. About 4 months ago, it went blank screen
(some call it "black video" or "blank video") suddenly without any
indications or warnings as to what happened. It still records sound and
plays already-recorded MiniDV tapes but doesn't show any video in
recording mode. It turned out I am NOT the only Sony camcorder owner
that has this problem. Many Sony camcorder owner of different models
have this "Black Video" sony camcorders. Some of them went dead within
1-yr warranties and some just out of the warranty period. Sony refuses
to acknowledge the product defect and wants these owners to pay
$200~300 to replace the CCD. I am posting this to warn prospective
buyers.
