Like virtually every movie made up to late 1953, THE WIZARD OF OZ
was filmed in Academy Ratio (1.37:1). The only reason it should ever
have black space anywhere around the picture is if it was "windowboxed"
in order to have the entire 1.37:1 frame appear on a 1.33:1 screen.
The new DVD is transferred at 1.33:1.
