Some say that it'll cause problems, but any properly applied label
will be fine. Keep in mind that the CD drives won't go 'bonker's like
some say - most of them do CLAMP the disc, so they're not going anywhere.

Also, while the labels can cause both vertical and horizontal shifts
in balance, the vertical aspect is minimal due to the relative flatness
of the label itself. The horizontal shift can cause an imbalance like a
wheel off balance, but again, unless the disc is spinning near the upper
bounds of 16x, it won't cause much trouble in a player since the disc
will be clamped in position.

The latest players also have laser heads and optics that move and
shift to focus accurately on changing disc orientations relative to the
optics, so no need to worry about discs that are a little off either.

For the most part, simply label, press with fingers to make sure the
entire label and edges are stuck to the surface and that no part of the
label lies off the top surface, and you should be fine for the most part.

I've never had any labeled CD or DVD stick, break, not read or write,
etc. in any of the CD/DVD drives I burn and read with. Neato brand labels.
