Burning success depends on the combination of the burner and the
media. The only way to know is either from your own experience or
credible reports.
However, there are two brands that burn reliably in the widest number
of burners - Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim. See the forum

I am currently working thru a batch of 8x ProdataF01 discs branded by
FujuFilm (Sams's Club) and MemorWrecks (Worst Buy). These would not
burn reliably with a Sony/LiteOn burner, even at 4x, but they do burn
reliably at 8x on a NEC 3540/1.W5.
Your BumFuq brand could work with a particular burner and yet fail
miserably with another particular burner.
