This is the only failed DVD I have made out of about a hundred and it
seems this is because there is a tiny (took x30 loupe to find it)
fault in the track layer, probably affecting about 27 track rings over
a very short distance ( 19.98 um). Through a microscope this fault I
measured as at 24.50mm radius from the disk centre and I can only
assume that his portion is critical in the recognition of the disk
format / directory of files. I post along with this query a jpg
picture in alt.binaries.multimedia.utilities (if interested look for
DVDfault.jpg , lens magnification is well over 500x ).
The disk is otherwise perfect. it is a 4.7Gb (DVD5) BulkPaq DVD+R
Generation 4 8x speed.
None of my burners/players (4 different tried) will mount the disk and
I assume it is this fault that is stopping any player from mounting
the disk at all. The disk in its unburned state must have been
correctly mounted for the burner to have burned it in the first place.
Is there any way of mounting the disk?
I tried rescue programmes but they will only work if the disk can be
recognised by the player/recorder in the first place..any expert help
out there? - I cannot get the disk content again!!
