I purchased a DVD Recorder a few months back. (Panasonic).
I was somewhat unhappy with the results until I replummed
my AV connections.
Turns out that the quality of the video output of the recorder varies
depending on the connections made to the TV/monitor.
From Worst-to-Best:
Coax
Line Out (One Video, Two Audios)
S-Video Out (One Cable)
Component Video Out (Three Video, Two Audios) for HD TV Only.
I was using the Line Out option and switched to Component Video
Out for our HD TV. The results are much better.
I know that plumbing these things can be a nightmare and vary widely
with depending the hardware bits. It would be worth it to get a
knowledgeable person to help you plumb your system.
