Ways around this - many DVD Recorders have a 'cracked' firmware that will
kill off any macrovision protection and usually make the recorder region
free.
I bought the Liteon 5006, downloaded cracked firmware installed and hey
presto! no problem copying Macrovision protected vids.
I believe you are entitled to make backups to DVDR, as long as you won the
original.
