Therefore 60% compression using Shrink causes no problem.
I do see a slight difference between a DVD, even one at 60%
compression, and a VHS tape at the poorest resolution. But the
difference is so slight that I quickly don't notice it.

Hmm... Sounds like a good reason not to get a 36" TV.
