I bought a sony set top dvd recorder and recorded a movie from cable. It
used a weird format. The folder was DVD_RTAV. and inside it were files
VR_MANAGER.IFO and VR_MOVIE.VRO.
The dvd in my computer will not play the video, only the recorder that made
it will play it. I took the expensive Sony recorder back and told them it
did not work. I got my money back. If this is the furure of video
recording, it sucks.
I can record ro capture the same videos from cable to my computer with a ati
video card in it and burn a dvd using win producer, and they play in any
player. I was trying to get rid of the computer beside the TV, by using a
set top recorder, but the Sony model sucked. It recorded fine, picture was
great, but it used a weird format that nothing else would play, so I dont
want it or the format.
I went to vegas with the money from the returned dvd recorder and said fuck
sony, while rolling the dice at the crap tables.
