My lab recently replaced a VCR with an LG DVD/HDD recorder. We use it
to record experiments. We did this because:
a) it's hard to find good VCR's these days, and
b) it would allow people to analyze their experiments on a computer
But we've been having trouble with reading the disks off-recorder. For
example, my laptop will read DVD-RW disks before finalization, but not
-R or +R. Other computers scattered around the lab cannot read any of
the disks, and a few of the laptops kicking around can read the -RW, but
nothing else.
Generally speaking, after finalization the computers have no trouble
reading any type of disk.
I image this is related to the format the disks use, and the fact that
they are not finalized. I was hoping that someone could direct me to a
piece of software which would allow us to read these non-finalized disks
on our computers. Ideally something easy to use; many of my lab mates
are not exactly what you would call "computer literate".
All data on the disks is in DVD-video format.
Thanx
Bryan
