Problem with new release drives is waiting for new firmware updates.
I tried the LG 4167 a while ago now with firmware DL10, DL11 and DL12.
Decided I wouldn't sell them until the firmware corrected the slowness
in burn times for high speed media.
The LG 4163 with firmware A105 is the fastest DVD burner out there and
also reads faster than other brands of DVD burners.
This is what I found with the LG 4167 drives.
Firmware DL10 and DL11 burn a full disc DVD-R 16X speed in 5 mins 19
seconds, but anything below 4Gb and the speed dropped back where it
would take 10 mins+ to burn.
Firmware DL12 a full disc took 6 mins and 8 seconds and anything under
4Gb went at a faster speed than before but not as fast as the LG 4163
with firmware A105.
Firmware DL10 and DL11 CDR burns took around 3 minutes.
Firmware DL12 CDR media burns now take over 16 minutes.
Hopefully firmware DL13 when ever it comes out will correct this.
