Go into the BIOS, and check the drives are recognized and set to
something like Auto or Enable.
Then check the drives are on DMA:
Control Panel, Sytem, Hardware, Device Manager, Ide Ata/Atapi
Controllers, Primary or Secondary IDE channel, Advanced tab
