i disagree with this statement. Even with fairly high bitrate Xvids
(say 1400 or so), the Xvid is noticeably degraded from the Original
..vob. It's not too bad on (say) a laptop, which is where i view most
of my xvids, but on a 24" lcd, it's obvious and on the rare occassion
when i try to watch it on my 50" DLP, it's awful.
h.264/x264, however, looks rather amazing on my lcd monitor.
Substantially better than xvid/divx. of corse, those are always from
720p or 1080i sources.
