Just replaced the combo drive in my Dell 700m laptop
with a NEC DVD Burner. Works great for most discs,
but in at least 2 cases, it would not read the last
file on a DVD I was copying. Got CRC errors. Could
not read with PowerDVD, DVDShrink, Nero, and could
not copy the last file using Windoz Explorer. The same
DVDs work fine on my desktop and in my DVD player.
There is no firmware update available.
Shall I presume a hardware problem and try (hah!) to have
the drive replaced, or figger it was a transient anomaly??
