**My dvd tv recordings are better than what I record with my 1997
Panasonic VCR (a fantastic VCR) and FAR FAR better than a new cheapo
JVC VCR.

However, this is only valid for what I record on XP and SP (Panasonic
e85). The 4-hr option stinks compared to the 6-hr option of both VCRs.
I've read the the new Pannys have a much improved LP.

Also, this is only valid for what the e85 records off of my analog
cable. Whenever I hook the digital box directly to the e85 (to record
digital channel tiers), the copies are pretty cruddy. They have this
weird cheeseclothey/pixelated look esp noticeable on flesh and such.
I've used the only two connection options available and those are
regular RCA cables and co-ax. Anybody know why this is?

The plus side is that the Panasonic VCR records a gorgeous picture off
of the digital box.
