Today, DVD Verdict posted reviews of THE BOOGEYMAN (1980), THE DOCTOR
AND THE DEVILS, FRIGHT PACK: MAN'S WORST FRIENDS, GHOST IN THE SHELL 2:
INNOCENCE MUSIC VIDEO ANTHOLOGY, THE MOON AND SIXPENCE, SATAN'S BLACK
WEDDING, SINGLE WHITE FEMALE 2: THE PSYCHO, SLAUGHTERHOUSE OF THE RISING
SUN, SUB ZERO, TWICE IN A LIFETIME, and WILD LIFE:

THE BOOGEYMAN (1980) (reviewed by Mac McEntire, overall score 45/100):
"Later in the film, when all hell really breaks loose, the movie takes
on a vibe straight out of The Exorcist, complete with a possession, a
never-say-die priest, and lots of gooey slimy stuff. Except that this
version adds funky bright green and red lights."

THE DOCTOR AND THE DEVILS (reviewed by Amanda DeWees, overall
score 72/100):
"The dullest movie about grave robbers I've ever seen, The Doctor and
the Devils is a waste of both a fine cast and one of English history's
most gruesome true crime stories."

FRIGHT PACK: MAN'S WORST FRIENDS (reviewed by Bill Gibron, overall
score 67/100):
"So the next time you think your ferret is giving you the evil eye, if
the gnats buzzing around your head appear to be conspiring against you,
and if the albino cat in your fish tank appears poised to strike at your
jugular vein, perhaps you should see a psychiatrist. Or maybe, you could
pick up a copy of the Fright Pack: Man's Worst Friends from Anchor Bay."

GHOST IN THE SHELL 2: INNOCENCE MUSIC VIDEO ANTHOLOGY (reviewed by Mike
Pinsky, overall score 60/100):
"On the one hand, parts of the film do work better as pure image, free
from the muddle of Oshii's story. But this program should have been
offered as a bonus disc with the original feature."

THE MOON AND SIXPENCE (reviewed by Diane Wild, overall score 46/100):
"The Moon and Sixpence is stripped of all Maugham's wit and wisdom,
leaving melodrama and the intricate psychology of characters I don't
care about."

SATAN'S BLACK WEDDING (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 60/100):
"The flick has its moments, but it's so shoddily put together (edits are
all over the place and the acting is supremely wooden), and the pacing
is so stultifying (a tepid, unending love scene, from a sexploitation
auteur no less!), that I have a hard time seeing why Satan's Black
Wedding is labeled a 'classic.' Or maybe it isn't."

SINGLE WHITE FEMALE 2: THE PSYCHO (reviewed by Mitchell Hattaway,
overall score 50/100):
"When it comes to style, the sequel looks like something you might run
across on Cinemax at three in the morning (minus the gratuitous nudity
that makes late-night Cinemax fare watchable)."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/swf2.php

SLAUGHTERHOUSE OF THE RISING SUN (reviewed by David Johnson, overall
score 75/100):
"Because of the film's shtick, there is never really a feeling of
seriousness to the situations. This leads to a lighter tone, despite the
authentic horror grist pervading the goings-on. Which was fine with me."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/slaughterhouserisingsun.php

SUB ZERO (reviewed by David Johnson, overall score 69/100):
"The plot is an amalgam of adventure movies that came before it: the
super EMP satellite weapon from Goldeneye, the mountain-climbing and
subsequent disasters from Vertical Limit, and the pervasive Eurotrash
terrorist threat from Every Action Movie Ever Made."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/subzero.php

TWICE IN A LIFETIME (reviewed by Russell Engebretson, overall
score 65/100):
"Twice in a Lifetime does not live up to its potential, but it has some
fine moments, thanks mainly to the superb acting skills of Gene Hackman
and Ellen Burstyn."

FULL REVIEW: http://www.dvdverdict.com/reviews/twiceinlifetime.php

WILD LIFE (reviewed by Adam Arseneau, overall score 66/100):
"So when I say that Wild Life is weird, please understand my meaning; it
isn't weird in a good way. It is weird like your estranged uncle who
always does the card tricks in inappropriate places is weird."
