Ilo is a store brand of WalMart. The model prior to the current one,
the DVDR04, was a Lite-On. It was purported to be defective, so Ilo
changed to the CyberHome 1600 for the current DVDR05 model.

What that tells me is that LiteOn does not need to be in the DVDR
business.

200 is around $360 which is enough to get a Pioneer, rated as the
best if not one of the best DVDR HDD units. I spotted an 80GB and a
160GB.

Unless you record everything in sight, 80GB should be sufficient with
medium resolution (4 hours on a DVD => ~4GB storage) - that will give
you about 80 hours strorage if my estimates are correct.

For my money I am tired of being an early adopter so I am going to
pass on DVDR HDDs this year and see what happens next year around this
time (Christmas season). I want to see two TV tuners in the unit so I
can record two shows at the same time.
