I've got a DVD recorder for archive backup of VHS lectures. I need the
best picture quality. If its a two hour lecture I'll split it into two,
even three disks to archive this goal.
My usual work with Digital is through Adobe Premiere Transcoding > NTSC
DV High quality 4MB VBR 2 Pass with comment 'max bit rate = 7'.
This Toshiba D-R2 DVD recorder is featured without the one hour two
hour four hour factors. What's available is the 'Recording duration'.
This chart has three rows. Row 1 -M1 (192kbps) Row 2- M2 (384kbps) Row
3 -LPCM. At the top of Row 1 beginning column (Picture Quality) I have
quality rate 2.2 M-1 Four hour One Minute and M-2 Four hour Two minute.
Moving to the bottom quality rate 9.2 M-1 = One hour One minute and M-2
1 Hour.
If I want the best picture quality for a two hour VHS Lecture I would
chose picture quality rate 9.2 M-2 for One hour? Finalize the DVD, and
begin the second hour on the VHS with this 9.2 M-2 One hour method?
I'm working to archive the 'best picture quality' as one would do
within Adobe Premiere Pro (Editing, Transcoding) with this Toshiba
D-R2. I appreciate any insight into the particularities.
