Perhaps he didn't have his heart in it? Perhaps he had to make a lot of
consessions? Perhaps it was rushed? I don't know. All I know is that
the Anchor Bay uber edition DVD set for the original Dawn of the Dead
came out September of last year. The commentaries were possibly
recorded 6 months before? I surmise this because the commentary with
the actors talk about going to the premiere of the remake. Anyway,
Romero talks about a script that he has for another zombie film and
saying that it would cost too much to make. Then about 6 or 7 months
after this DVD set comes out I find out that another zombie film from
him is being released in June. So if my time line is anywhere correct
(which I will fully admit that it could very well be no where near the
ball park), then it seems awfully quick to put together a studio film.
Someone that may know more, PLEASE correct me.
It was a little disappointing. I was extremely excited about it. It
was one of the few movies released this year that I actually got excited
about. Maybe I was expecting too much. I don't know. I haven't seen
the director's cut DVD yet. I just got my copy today, but I will try to
watch it tonight or tomorrow night to see if it's any better than the
theatrical version.
