How about the discs it can play?

While I can easily agree with that, I point out that you will likely
upgrade to a new unit before you break this one by excessive playing.
Of course that depends on the amount of use we are talking about. We
have managed to break low-end Panasonic VCRs by excessive use. We got
about 1 year from them before having to replace them. But then we
recorded a whole bunch of stuff each day. We did that so we could skip
commercials.
