Thanks for the suggestion. We bought him a Logitech Harmony last year 
after he complained about having to press so many buttons for Random 
mode. The Harmony works great, it issues all 3 commands fine. But he has 
problems using the macro button for some reason, only when I'm not 
around. I imagine he presses the button and doesn't keep the remote 
aimed for the 2 or 3 seconds that are required for the DVD player to 
pick up all commands. I even printed off detailed instructions on how to 
use the macro button and how long he needs to wait. He still has 
problems. That is why I'm resorting to something without complication. 
 
He wants to go back to a CD changer for this reason alone. We're not 
dealing with someone who wants to embrace new technology.
