I do not consider the UEIC line to be cheap quality and they are not
hard to set up. I have the URC 8910, which has an LED window to let me
know what is happening during the setup. It sells for $20 on
amazon.com. I called tech support and they sent the upgrade to me by
phone modem. Very slick. They are supposed to send me the extra codes
by email but I really do not need them because the 8910 is a learning
remote and I already have it programmed the way I want it for 4
devices. I love the Keymover feature because I can make the Vol
controls all work on the TV regardless of the mode I am in.
I had a UEIC Radio Shack unit that lasted about 5 years and UEIC faxed
me the codes to program it. You really want to get the 8910 because it
learns from your remotes and has that LED window. For $20 it is a real
bargain - not cheaply built and not hard to set up.
