Hmm... Having done a bit of research (was thinking about flashing the
firmware in my Targa to turn it into a Liteon) I've found the following
snippets of information:
The Liteon 5045 can be rendered region-free, Macrovision-disabled, and
can have a three-hour recording mode via a firmware update; the Targa
cannot.
The Targa can play MPEG4, DivX, XviD, and WMA files from the harddrive
or a DVD/CD; the Liteon cannot.
Swings and roundabouts, really: just surprised me that the two *weren't*
exactly identical, especially with the lack of MPEG4 support on the Liteon.
