More information is needed for meaningful answers
What is the model number and brand of the DVD recorder?
Why do you want to transfer them to your external DVD recorder? When better
results would, and a simpler process be obtained by burning them on your
computers DVD burner (assuming you have one)
Most external DVD recorders are essentially analog devices that have
standard composite video in and audio. This means you would have to install
a good quality PC card that outputs composite video from your PC. All of
this would be in real time. Just like copying a VHS tape to another VHS
recorder.
You say the DVD recorder has a firewire connection, my guess this is for you
DV cam - maybe you could go from the firewire connection on your PC TO the
DVD recorder directly? That would make things simple if the recorder has
that capability. As they say read the docs! and lets know the brand and
model number - you could just google to the manufactures site and find
out...
