Somewhere around Thu, 29 Dec 2005 14:38:28 GMT, while reading
rec.video.dvd.players, I think I thought I saw this post from "Kenneth
Anderson" <cbikes@verizon.net>:
>I am looking to buy a DVP642, but am concerned that everywhere I read about
>it, it says it will play files (DIVX, etc.) off a CD, but doesn't mention if
>it will play these off a burnt DVD, and on the website it doesn't list
>DVD+/-R as a format it plays. Can anyone tell me if it will play files I
>have burnt onto a DVD-R or DVD+R?
>
I had a bunch of DIVX avi files, and I simply copied them to a DVD-R, and it
plays fine. It shows a menu of filenames, and will automatically play one
after another.
I play DVD-R movie copies with no problem, and it looks and sounds good on
my 46" Samsung DLP and Yamaha 5.1 surround system. I haven't compared it
with any other players, so perhaps I would be surprised, but it looks and
sounds very good to me, so I don't really care to go to a lot of trouble to
to try to disappoint myself.
