Take it back and get the MU1 version.

Then get the latest f/w and load it. Ask tech support to walk you thru
the procedure. The so-called "front end" is the laser servo f/w and
the "back end" is the GUI control f/w. It is the back end that you
want to be sure to upgrade.

The f/w is in the form of an ISO file. It is usually Nero compatible
with the .nrg extension. You burn each individual f/w onto a new CD
(not DVD) as an image file. Then you insert it into the tray and hope
the power does not go off. Let it alone - the latest version takes a
while. It usually asks you if you want to proceed - say yes. If it
screws up, take the unit back.
