Re: presentation with glossy white board- way to shoot

This is not ENTIRELY appropriate, because I guess that the whiteboard
writing is going to be purely ad-lib at the time of recording.... but
I've often had to face this problem with capturing presentations using
a projected PowerPoint. I keep the (single) camera on a fairly wide
shot, trying to expose so that the presenter is acceptable, but the
slides appear on the screen as a ghost. I do NOT leave the auto iris
on!

I make it a condition that I get a copy of the PowerPoint, and then I
can crib the slides from it and cross-fade in and out of them as
stills. I try to do that pretty soon after the presenter has made the
slide change, so that the video viewer can quickly take in the detail.
If the presenter then moves to the screen to point more closely at a
feature, I go back to the camera shot - the hand/pointer wouldn't
appear on the still, of course, but if the audience have had a chance
to see the closeup, then they can still understand what the presenter
is pointing to.

The whiteboard problem is more difficult than that, and I have no real
answer. I guess that 2 cameras is pretty much the only way. You COULD
try setting up a digital still camera on a tripod to capture screen
shots, and then try using them as I do the PowerPoint stills. You'd
probably need someone else to fire the camera, though!
