Finding Nemo would have been vastly more exciting had "Mark Fraser
(News)" <mfraser@ukgateway.net> been looking for him. instead of writing
this in uk.media.dvd:

Well for someone so anal that they put (News) after their name, and
probably have their name in their socks, then no, tape would not sound
as good as a 48K recording of vinyl, but to get an album to MP3, I'd
prefer an original tape to a crackly vinyl copy that needs a shed load
of work doing to it. But if you want the audiophile answer to the
question then just ask.
For starters I wouldn't be using a record deck, but a laser reader that
overcomes the crackle.
