The best price/performance I've come across on the software front is
Wave Corrector at £28.
Does Vinyl and Tape and removes the clicks/hiss as appropriate. It can
seperate tracks but I prefer to do it manually takes a few seconds....

As POD says - you need a phono preamp to make the turntable output of
sufficient strength for the sound card to record. I use the amp for
this and take the tape loop output to the sound card as others have
indicated.
Works a treat!
