I'm trying to connect a Canon GL2 camcorder via firewire to an Intel
iMac and use iMovie to capture a previously recorded DV. I can do this
with WinXP but having trouble making a full connection with the iMac.
iMovie sees the camera alright but reports an "error communicating with
the camera". I can't figure out what that means, exactly. I've tried
all kinds of connecting scenarios from restarting the computer and then
plugging in the camera to the reverse. Another Mac user suggested it
was a audio problem and thought starting Garage Band first followed by
iMovie would fix the problem. No go.
I checked the Canon site and they provide little to no information on
firewire camera to PC connections. Help! Suggestions please. I've
got a library full of previously recorded DV tape I need to capture,
convert to movie format and burn to DVD.
