It may be that the wall you've hit is the one that anyone would hit,
given the subject. Wherever you're going, "My Holiday" as a subject
has it's limitations.
What any film needs more than anything else is a good story, the
techniques will follow. Perhaps on your next trip you could concentrate
on one particular aspect and make that into a proper documentary "How
Fred, who wasn't that good at mountain climbing, inproved himself on
the holiday", "How the people of Kenya are using low cost technology to
find new sources of drinking water" - or whatever. If you're really,
really, really lucky, you'll stumble over a story that others will pay
to see.
If you do get onto making a story, you'll probably find your shooting
ratio will go up - 20:1 or more is quite usual - so you'll need to take
more stock!
